We experimented until we got it right..with this recipe, we don\u2019t need to hunt for that perfect \u201cchilli in a packet\u201d! If you&#8217;re lazy or just don&#8217;t have the ingredients, you can prepare this using the <a href=\"https:\/\/zarada.net\/?p=249\">&#8220;chilli-in-a-packet&#8221; recipe<\/a>&#8230;<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>INGREDIENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>250 gms pinto beans or red beans, soaked in water overnight<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px\" title=\"Pinto Beans\" src=\"https:\/\/zarada.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/pintobeans.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Pinto Beans\" width=\"155\" height=\"155\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px\" title=\"Red Beans\" src=\"https:\/\/zarada.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/redbeans.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Red Beans\" width=\"130\" height=\"130\" \/><\/p>\n<p>2 tbsp Chipotle sauce<\/p>\n<p>1 bay leaf<\/p>\n<p>1 vegetable cube<\/p>\n<p>500 ml water<\/p>\n<p>70 gms green pepper<\/p>\n<p>50 gms onion<\/p>\n<p>2 cloves garlic<\/p>\n<p>3 tbsp olive oil<\/p>\n<p>4 tsp cumin powder<\/p>\n<p>2 tsp paprika<\/p>\n<p>1 tsp chilli flakes<\/p>\n<p>3 tbsp tomato puree (or 1\/2 can Hunts tomato sauce)<\/p>\n<p><strong>DIRECTIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Discard the soak water, wash and rinse the soaked beans. In a pressure cooker, place the beans, water bay leaf, vegetable cube and Chipotle sauce, and pressure cook for about 20 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Mince the green pepper, onion and garlic. In a saucepan, heat the olive oil and saut\u00e9 the pepper, onion and garlic and let it sweat over low heat until soft. Add the cumin and fry for about 30 seconds. Add the chilli flakes and the paprika, mix well and fry until dark brown \u2013 careful because paprika burns easily. Add the tomato paste, mix well and let simmer for 2 \u2013 3 minutes until the mixture is a little dark.<\/p>\n<p>Add\u00a0 2 \u2013 3 tbsp of the liquid from the beans, and mix well.
