It is said that it has Arabic origins because this dessert is also common in Arabian restaurants and homes. There are many ways of making it but this is how we make it\u2026.quick and easy.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Arroz con Leche\" style=\"border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px\" height=\"196\" alt=\"Arroz con Leche\" src=\"https:\/\/zarada.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/arrozconleche.jpg\" width=\"520\" border=\"0\" \/>&#160;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Preparation time 30 minutes<\/p>\n<p><strong>INGREDIENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Serves 3<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1\/4 cup pudding rice (any rice will do as long as its not <em>basmati <\/em>rice)<\/p>\n<p>500 ml fresh milk or UHT milk (you can also use low-fat milk)<\/p>\n<p>2 tbsp sugar<\/p>\n<p>Rind of 1 orange<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Orange rind\" style=\"border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px\" height=\"117\" alt=\"Orange rind\" src=\"https:\/\/zarada.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/orangerind.jpg\" width=\"370\" border=\"0\" \/> <\/p>\n<p>Cinnamon stick<\/p>\n<p>Cinnamon powder to serve<\/p>\n<p><strong>DIRECTIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lightly wash the rice and place in a non-stick saucepan together with the orange rind, sugar, cinnamon stick and half the milk and cook on medium heat.<\/p>\n<p>Stir often and keep adding the rest of the milk making sure that its always \u201cSOUP not CONGEE\u201d. Simple explanation \u2013 don\u2019t let it get thick. If it becomes congee, it will stick to the pan.<\/p>\n<p>When all the milk is used up, allow to gently boil for about 15-20 minutes until the rice is soft. It should be soupy \u2013 once it has cooled down it will be come thicker. If its not soupy, add more milk and heat again for awhile.<\/p>\n<p>Remove cinnamon stick and lemon peel and allow it to cool.
